Confidentiality must not be abridged by the counselor except:

a clear and present danger to a student or to other persons.

Students will participate
in planning their educational experiences so that their education is
consistent with
educational requirements and career aspirations.

STUDENT SERVICES/GUIDANCE
Counselors provide assistance for all students for personal or school problems. These services include assistance with educational planning; interpretation of test scores; occupational information; career information; study skills; help with home, school and/or social concerns; o r any question one would like to discuss with a counselor. The walk-in service is available throughout the day for emergencies; however, students are encouraged to make an appointment with a counselor ahead of time.
Counselors contact
all students during each semester to discuss class scheduling and plans
for the future. Students may also see the assistant principals or
principal for problems they have.
SPECIAL EDUCATION
The ultimate goal
of the special education program is to develop skills, attitudes, interests,
and work habits so that the student will be academically, socially, and
vocationally competent. Students are enrolled in the least restrictive
environment and, if necessary, are provided with support services to insure
success. The Tutoring Center support service is geared to meet the
individual needs of all students including those with learning or emotional
problems. Coded students are enrolled in appropriate mainstream classes
and are provided support services beyond those provided by the regular
education teacher. These services include consultation with the regular
education teacher, tutorial services, individualized instruction, and a
wide variety of instructional aids. Along with these services, the
Tutoring Center offers individualized academic programs to meet the needs
of students whose Individualized Education Plans call for this intensive
assistance.
