The E. L. Tunkel Band Award
Named after the SHS Band's most dedicated
and memorable musician, the E. L. Tunkel Band Award is given to a Band
member who shows all the qualities needed to win this award. The
award is given bi-weekly (mainly 'cause I'm lazy and 'cause nobody emails
me), and the winner is posted here on this website, along with a short
explanation for their winning the award. The award may be given out
to anybody, and the winner will be selected by a panel of judges (namely
me), who will choose the winner on their own personal whim. If you
think somone deserves the E. L. Tunkel Band Award, submit their name and
what they did to deserve the award. Send all applications HERE.
THE WINNER FOR THE WEEK OF 9/21/98:
Mrs. GRANTER
This week's winner is none other than
Mrs. Granter! John Fahey sent this one in, and the story goes a little
somethin' like this: At the Friends of Music meeting a couple weeks
ago, Mrs. Granter was searching for her keys. Alas, she could not
remember where she had left them. She looked everywhere, but to no
avail - she just could not remember where her keys went to. But then
she finally found them, just where she had left them - under the piano.
John thinks Mrs. Granter is a good recipient of this award, because Eric
Tunkel had a tendency to lock his keys in his car. Hey, it works
for me...
THE WINNER FOR THE WEEK OF 9/7/98:
MATT CROSS
Congratulations are in order for Matt
Cross, who wins the Tunkel Award for this week. The story goes something
like this: Matt was watching TV, and allegedly witnessed a technician
loading wood into a computer, telling the audience how efficient it was.
When Matt went to school the next day and told his friends, he was scoffed
at. His friends told him that perhaps the machine was a printing
press, not a computer, to which Matt responded, "Maybe it was."
Now if that isn't grounds for winning
the Tunkel Award, I don't know what is.
